We had a fun day today in the mountains. We took our time starting the day and then as we were leaving the cabin and driving out we saw some of our friends just a few cabins down. So, we stopped in and visited with them. Then of course we had potty issues with Christian so we had to go back to the cabin. 20 minutes later we're off AGAIN! We found our way winding through the Smoky Mountains behind this super slow car. Oh my goodness! Thank goodness for them, though. As they pulled over to stop and I went by to pass them I saw something cross the road. "What's that weird dog crossing the road? Hey, HEY! Look!" Well, Rob and I saw it... a black bear! We pulled over to the side too. Rob and I got out to see if we could find it but couldn't. Rob went farther into the woods while I stayed close to the car. Then, my loving husband came around the bend, RUNNING! "Oh, s#$t!" I said. "Uh, I mean...." He was joking of course. No bear was chasing him, but he had me going for a second and I cussed in front of the children. Thankfully the only thing they could remember me saying was "punk." Thank goodness (this one and only time) for children who don't pay attention to me. Later we stopped to get some family pictures by the creek, had a picnic up at Cade's Cove and then drove around the trail. Cade's Cove is an 11 mile one way circle around a pioneer settlement. Almost 860 people lived there until the West opened up and then only about 250 people lived there once everyone moved away. But, some cabins are still standing. Pretty neat. It was a great day!
