Cathedral Caverns

Today we decided to take a day trip out to Cathedral Caverns. It was a lot of fun seeing the caves, apparently we have a lot here in AL. The weather was perfect, the kids were great, and we got a lot of good steep walking in:)

The cave entrance, biggest commercial cave entrance in the world.

Kaden and Gramp stuck together while Rie and Gran stuck together. Rob had Christian and I had the camera:)

Tooth from a megladon shark... Kaden called it long before the tour guide told us. Amazing for an 8 year old!

Stalagmites and stalagtites growing together to form "pillars" (not the kind you sleep on according to those of us who live in AL... so says our tour guide.)

Listening to the tour guide. He was pretty funny.

Little bat all snuggled in for a long winter's nap.

Gran, Gramp, Rob and kids inside the "Cathedral" part of Cathedral Caverns.

After our trek inside we had to turn around and hike back. The walk in didn't seem too bad, nice and cool. But, it was a trek back! Long, up steep hills and did I mention long? It was lots of fun though. We were excited to see the entrance/exit when we finally arrived back to it. (one way in and one way out)

We found a neat rock climbing wall for the kids when we left. They had a blast climbing and racing to the other side. Even Christian could climb to the top!
