4th of July

Rie and I decided we needed a 4th of July cake. I had her read the directions and do alot of the pouring and mixing (with me watching over because for some reason I have to clean as we go, no messes... funny with 3 kids). Of course Kaden came just in time to mix and eat the batter. Yum!

While we mixed the cake Daddy got out the fireworks to plan our show...

FINALLY the cake was finished baking and cooling so she started the icing.

2 layers later and some help with the icing we finished. And, then we realized we forgot to put the sprinkles inside the cake batter before it baked. Ooops.

Some of our fireworks. The girls really can't handle the noise. Rie was better this year, but it scared Christian and she would cover her ears under my hands. As a side note, I have to cover her ears when we flush the potty in a store bathroom but when you ask her to do something she says, "What did you say?" with her hand cupped around her ear. Aaah. Sweet children. Ok, so back to fireworks we bought a lot of ground ones hoping the girls could handle it.

But, not all of them were on the quiet side and our neighbors seem to LOVE the super loud popping ones that go 20 at a time. So, the girls climbed in Rob's truck. I put headphones on Bear's (christian's nickname) ears, but that didn't last long. They stayed in there until it got too hot and then headed inside.
Kade, however, had a blast. He picked what went next and was "in control."
more fireworks.

Funny - I have to clean as I cook, too. We're way too much alike! :)

Hope that you're having a good summer!
